Jamie. Being a dealer I'm sure you're much more in-tune with what's going on in the industry, and rightly so. I was talking more about the knives in the middle to high-end. I guess I'm almost programmed to think "automatic" cuz I think about those the most, and the knives I'm seeing with prices of US$1,000.-$100,000. are better examples of the knives I was referring to. I'd love to discuss this further but I've already had a request to stay on topic, so if you wish to continue perhaps the high prices thread? 8)

Arrived today, 8 1/4" oal Matt Diskin designed Kershaw Launch 8 automatic I've followed for some time. This knife has a CPM-154 bayonet blade, 2 piece charcoal grey aluminum body with carbon fiber inlays on the front cover, flush mounted button to eliminate the safety, adjustable pivot, BO/BC coil-spring action, and pocket-clip. Blade deploys crisply and locks solid. Very similar to the Ganzo 707, albeit much lighter. 8)

I wasn't sure if your post was directed at me Tom, but since there are no other knives posted close by I'll assume it was, so, thanks for the congrats and the knife is actually quite slim in your hand and doesn't feel large at all. It feels just right! 8)

Moore Maker 3206 "Bullet" Trapper. They had a sale on engraving errors, and this pattern had the biggest discount, and besides, I've been wanting to try a Bullet-pattern Trapper for 5-6 years now.

A personal engraving relating to a minister is on this knife. It has not been inked and is thus not that noticeable. It's deep enough to make the knife less slippery.

Note how much text is in the engraving--I bet this knife was the only one MM had in the catalog that would fit that many characters!
100_0742.JPG
Moore Maker has their sheaths made in a saddle shop of good quality leather--not the usual cheap stuff most knives come with. It's a heavy-duty affair that will get the job done.
100_0743.JPG
Because it is made by Bear, I think, I had figured there would be a QC issue--the tip is somewhat tarnished and dinged. I suspect it could've gotten dropped on the assembly line? Dropped when getting engraved? Still, this is actually the best Bear I have. The main blade spine when open isn't flush with the back spring, but that's functionally a non-issue. The blades are perfectly centered, and it's sharp.
100_0745.JPG
This will be replacing a '74 Case 6265 originally belonging to my great-uncle the third time. I have tried similar patterns, and they're not as good (but I haven't gotten a 25OT or Kabar's two-blade Hunter yet). This one is just enough smaller to be a better EDC, has ergonomics more akin to that of a fixed blade, very wide blades, and a lanyard tube that'll take a parachute cord tether without a problem.

Shipping costs were killer--$14. And it came in a padded envelope that cost them $6 to mail! That being said, it cost $60 altogether. With shipping, an unengraved normal production model is north of $100, which ain't that much cheaper than the new GEC-based Remington Bullet. I know the Bears usually sold for around $60 when they were making the Remington Bullet pattern--but handles were usually wood or bone, not Delrin. The shipping costs is why, normally, I purchase my Moore Makers from tack stores in Texas, and not direct.

Cody, those Bullet Trappers are quite a handful!
I picked up one in November at the Bear & Son factory sale. Mine is a Second Quality, and is in buffalo horn. The inletting for the shield was cut slightly off on mine, no big deal, but was considerably cheaper than that.
If you want another one, I plan to go back again this coming November. We can work out a trade, or something.
Jesus is life.
Everything else is just a hobby.

Thanks much…they sold almost instantly, they sure are slick, the Benchmade has a safety on it but it is slick also, I’m sure the fact you got is the same.

Literally, just got it out of the postman’s hands! I have seen a ton of coke bottle Olcut folders, but how about an Olcut Stockman!?! First one I ever saw. The Union Cut Co. mark is faint, but there, the Olcut mark is solid. All blades snap strong and no wobble. Closed, it is 4 1/8 inches closed, so a nice sized knife! (Not quite Madmarco sized though) ::sotb::
