Re: UTICA !!!
Been following this one on the Bay, similar to the one I picked up for $40 but better condition. Watching to see how high it goes, not bidding, not my knife.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: UTICA !!!
This combination letter opener and advertising pocket knife arrived very recently. It was in a very small group of pocket knives that I bought. But, I did NOT buy the group for this particular item. I do not collect combination letter openers and pocket knives. This is a UTICA - CUTLERY CO. - UTICA, N.Y., single blade, single tool, single tang stamp (arched or curved style), advertising letter opener and pocket knife. The body itself measures 3 3/8." From the tip of the tool to the tip of the blade (opened), it measures 11 3/8." The main handle side says "CEREAL PRODUCTS CO. - MANITOWOC, WIS." The other handle side says "RAHR MALT SINCE 1847." There is a crack in the handle and it appears that the spring has a crack in it also. I cleaned the tool and the blade only. I took some pictures and here it is.

Maybe you didn't buy the group for that knife, but that one is a winner, Skip. That is a great little piece of Midwest history from a fine NY maker.New_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 10:35 pm This combination letter opener and advertising pocket knife arrived very recently. This pocket knife arrived recently. It was in a large group of pocket knives that I bought. But, I did NOT buy the group for this particular pocket knife. It is a UTICA, single blade, single tang stamp, 2" closed (not including the bail), fob/key ring style, pocket knife. The tang stamp reads "UTICA - CUTLERY CO - UTICA, N.Y." Except for the one tiny bolster or end piece that is missing, this little guy is in pretty nice shape. I cleaned it a bit, took some pictures and here it is.

Re: UTICA !!!
There is something appealing about that knife. It looks perfect to be the first pocket knife for a youngster:. Small, inexpensive, yet well made.

I have been very lucky to have gotten 2 Utica’s from the factory collection just recently. This one I saw 20 years ago and always hoped I get a chance at it. Last owner was a fine gentleman named Joe Chance, may he Rest In Peace! Thanks Roger for helping me get this one!!

Re: UTICA !!!
Here is the other one, very rare cigar split back spring whittler with also a punch blade. I can’t remember ever seeing an American made cigar whittler, especially in horn! The 2 knives pictured are both Utica’s from the Factory collection. They were both offered about 15 plus years ago by Northwest Knives and collectibles. I could only buy the English Jack but always hoped to get the whittler to put them back together. Beautiful horn which is pretty hard to find on American made knives! Thanks to Roger again for helping get this one too!!

Nice! The only horn-handled knives I have are Swiss (Victorinox used it until the '70s) and German.
