Thanks for the kind words, Madmarco.
The orange sodbuster has a UNITED stamp. I hadn’t noticed these before. The handle is solid, no spring showing. Don’t know how it works, might be like the Queen Big Chief. ::shrug::

You're most welcome bud. I'm wondering if the UNITED stamp is the same UNITED CUTLERY that makes all those Gil Hibben knives? ::shrug:: I find it interesting cuz it has the clip-point blade, ::hmm:: whereas they usually have a drop-point or spear-point blade. I'm not a fan of clip-points but I do find the color and construction of the handle intriguing, not to mention the concealed spring. I'm in full agreement regarding your LF&C, it definitely is the prize! 8)

I've speculated this is the history of the "United" knife. I think it's the same United.

It originated with Kissing Crane in the 1980s and was made in Germany, where it was sold under the names "Black Angus" and "Coal Miner" (often etched on the blade). Then, production moved to Italy starting in the '90s, where it was also produced under the United name, and still is produced as a Kissing Crane. Antonini produces an identical pattern in two sizes, two different blade types (plain or straight edge), and three diffrent handle colors--I presume these were the original KC molds and tooling.

I have the 869/B, and it' takes a beating. The simple 420SS steel sharpens up quick, and the aggresive serrations rip through heavy material.

Exclusive to Antonini is a spear-point with a cable stripping blade.

Congratulations John, that's a cool little knife. You usually see these with a spear-point blade so the sheepsfoot is quite refreshing. Since it's a GEC, do you still have both arms and legs? ::shrug:: LOL! 8)

Thanks, Mark, and barely. It was less than $200 delivered, and comes in at a formidable 4 1/4". Excellent snap, fit and finish. Plus the dye is amazing.

Thanks Jamie. It's actually kindda light for my liking, but it is a scale-release model and I wanted one for my collection. I have a Wolverine brand dual-action, which is to say it has a thumb-stud for manual opening and a concealed button under the front cover for automatic opening that I was going to settle for as a scale-release, but this genuine model became available so I grabbed it. It's a pretty cool opening/closing system. 8)

I recently acquired a case tested (20-40) green bone 6265 pattern. I checked a price guide to get an idea of the value. It listed a "thin version" as rare. I don 't what that is.
Can anyone enlighten me?
