Thanks Jamie!

It's blue curly maple. I think it'd really pretty and wish Case had used it on a full sized canoe too.

I have 2 Canoes. One is a RR with more manufacturing defects than a Yugo, POS I refuse to carry. The other is a Buck China with 420J2 blades, sharpens well but dulls so fast it's barely usable as a letter opener, Buck should be embarassed to put their name on it. These 2 have killed my desire for another Canoe.

Don't give up so easily! The makers are the problem not the pattern. Grab yourself a Case with CV (not stainless) steel blades or an older USA Queen or a good German made like Bulldog, Fightin' Rooster, or Boker. You might change your mind. One of my favorite EDCs is a Case yellow handled CV canoe, great little knife. :D

Plus the CV steel takes a good edge without too much work and holds it well. Not to mention that lovely signature patina you get with non-stainless high carbon steel. At 3 5/8" it rides well in the watch pocket too. Makes for a great EDC. ::nod::

The one I carry...

Some terrific boats on show, as usual! I really like the yellow one with CV; shame Case doesn't currently offer them.

All nice Charlie, but the green heart ivy knife is still amongst my favorites of all time. I think that handle material is incredible. I would love to see how they make this.

As I understand it, the material is bone dyed Bermuda green and the ivy pattern is laser etched into the bone. I'm not sure how they apply the black relief, maybe a process similar to scrimshaw. That butterbean is, as far as I know, the second generation of the green ivy handle, below is a pic of the full sized canoe from the first generation.

Thanks Charlie, the black in the background was always a mystery to me as to how they were able to do that. I had one of those first generation canoes but sold it a couple of years ago. They are one of my favorites. Allegheny Mountain Rogers jigged is still my favorite bone handles. Only appeared on CCC knives back around 2005. Wonderful looking colors on those. Case does know how to make great bone handled knives.

I’ve got a Sowbelly with that handle - it’s called Green Bone Heartleaf. Love the Canoe, Charlie, with the scrolled bolsters - unfortunately, not on my sowbelly.

I believe Case listed the original canoe as Bermuda Green Ivy. Don't know if there is a difference between that and heart leaf.

They could just as well be aircraft carrier, battleship, cruiser, submarine, destroyer, and...life boat. A very cool lineup, Charlie!

Thank you gentlemen.

I was thinking about the different sizes of any particular pattern and thought I'd see how many I had among my boats. ::hmm::

Nice collection, Charlie! What’s the size of the largest and the smallest?
