Inherited knives

Hello All!

I recently inherited some knives from my grandpa. I was able to find info on all of them but one. It is a Beretta folding knife. Engraved on one side of brass is P.Beretta and the other side has an eagle engraving. The leather case is in very nice condition. Anyone know anything about this knife?

Some of the other knives inherited are 2 Schrade Walden MC1 paratrooper switchblades. A stiletto switchblade marked b rostfrei. A USN Mark 1 knife. An Othello Anton Wingen Jr gravity knife. A nib Beretta seki-Japan bullet knife. And a Kershaw 1050 marked 1050 Japan on one side and Kershaw Oregon USA on the other. From researching I think means it was the first production run of the knife, but I could be wrong.

Hey Keaton, to AAPK! That is one gorgeous knife in the pictures, and one I've never seen before. From what you describe it sounds like you inherited some very nice knives. The paratrooper autos are bringing good money these days, and jus' for your information, the auto stamped "b Rostfrei" might very well be a Frank Beltrame build, cuz his stamp on some knives is very faint, so look really hard just ahead of the "b" and you may see "Frank", maybe not. Frank builds very nice quality knives. The Beretta bullet knife is also really cool and I have one in my collection. And finally, anytime you can get a Kershaw 1050 is a good time!

Welcome to the forum. I don’t know a lot about switchblades and I think your information on the Japanese knives is good. It’s hard to find comparables on eBay for values since switchblades and gravity knives aren’t allowed on eBay. Try searching here for the same knives and see what they are asking for them, since they are allowed to be sold here.
One piece of advice, don’t store those knives in their sheaths, that corrodes the metal on the bolsters and the sheaths will also show signs of interacting with the metal and both will be ruined. It would be a good idea to pick up some Simichrome or similar metal polish and clean off that corrosion on those knives and store them separately from the sheaths. Good luck and welcome again.

That is a really nice Beretta knife. I think it is one of the best ones they had made, I've had 2 but never had a sheath for either of the ones I had. I believe they were made in the 70's or 80's but am not sure. They pop up from time to time on ebay. Last one I had I sold for 115 but again it did not have a sheath.

Thanks for the warm welcoming and information! I will definitely keep the knife and sheath separated now. Here are some pics of the stiletto. It’s hard to read the engraving but I don’t see a Frank. The B looks like a lowercase b logo.

Thanks for the additional pics Keaton! From your enlarged picture I was able to enlarge it further and could see the stamp clearly, and to the best of my knowledge your knife was not built by Frank. It is indeed stamped with a lower case "b" and when I checked my 2 copies of Frank B's they're stamped "FRANK B", all caps. Frank and his relatives changed companies and staff a few times, and with each change their stamp changed, but the stamp on your knife doesn't look like any I've seen. The swedge blade indicates an older knife, but the swivel-bolster release indicates after 1962 when they transitioned from picklocks to swivel-bolsters. Regardless of who built your knife it's still a very cool 9" stiletto!
