After coming back from the farm yesterday evening, I decided to do some decal work, Santa Fe 3450 4-6-4 Hudson rides again!

I love the sound of that whistle, I think he called it a 5 Chime. I've been watching some YouTube whistle vids, I think I like the Santa Fe 5 Chime the best, there's also single, 3 and 6 Chime whistles that I've found vids for. The compilation ones are pretty cool.

Railroad history lesson about Santa Fe 2-10-4 Texas steam engines on the PRR in 1956, very interesting.

John, you have made many good posts to this thread, those last 2 videos are probably my favorite. It is great that someone had the foresight to video this, and even greater that the segments survived the years. Those old locomotives make some beautiful music, thanks for sharing.

Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
I'm sitting here watching "Lost Places". They were just showing a ghost town called Thurmond, WV. Thurmond was build up around coal mines & trains. Here is a Wikipedia link if anyone is interested. Oh, trains still drive through Thurmond but I guess they don't stop there anymore. On "Lost Places" they showed a CSX train passing through. Only a handful of people still live there.

John, that is a pretty interesting video, it is amazing that those old buildings not only aren't covered in graffiti, their windows are also intact. I was not familiar with Hobo Shoestring, I am going to check out some of his other videos.
Here are a few different looks at a UP coal train....front and rear in the countryside, and up close through town.
