One of the reasons it is not used more extensively is that is darkens significantly, i have a knife with beautiful olivewood scales, but it looks like a completely different knife to the one i purchased.

Doesn't bother me. Wood that has an aged look can be very appealing.
Thanks to all for the kind words, and y'all have some mighty fine cutlery on show, too!

I totally agree, wood has it's own unique characteristics as it ages, but to some this does not appeal.

Re: "Wood" You Show Us Your Wood?
Thought you may be interested in this, i have only had this for about 4-5 months, when i got it was not over impressed and thought it was a bit plain. Knew it would develop some character as it aged, but not as good as this, it is has developed into some beautiful wood since i have been carrying it and will only get better. Have a good weekend.

Yes mate it has really improved, and will only get better. That is one of the reasons why i like wood covers so much, and this thread.

Green maple from Case. Brown Quince from Moki. Love these wood grains.

Re: "Wood" You Show Us Your Wood?
Thanks Quick S, thanks doglegg, thanks Dan in MI. Appreciate the comments and threw another down for a picture session to show the wood. I love the Becker knives and while this BK-9 is a big beast, it's fabulous for camping, cuts about anything and if you need it to, it can pound in tent stakes. Also splits wood, carves, batons well and picks up hot metal handles on the pans in the fire. Love everything about it except the black plastic scales it came with so we switched them out and got some Teak from Home Depot and carved a couple that I like better. Now there is nothing to disappoint. Rock on mr. Becker for your contribution to the knife world. And hats off to ya.
