Gerber Prototyp DuPont Hypalon Handle 8.75 inch blade

I am hoping that someone in this group would be able to help me with some more info on this knife.
Although this specific knife is a prototyp made in the early 80's the final version might have been sold by Osmhmans sporting goods.

I haven't seen such a model previously. However, the handle appears to be made of the same components as those used on the "Hypalon" Presentation hunters.
