For the price, I could overlook the fit and finish issues. Nice pick-up! ::tu::

Well, the mail carrier was good to me today. Waiting on this package with baited breath. Purchased these three knives from the same person that I had gotten the Cyber Knife , and Camillus 16 from earlier in the month. The Scout & Timber Scribe was a negotiated B.I.N., but he had already listed the Big-un, so had to bid on it. But here they are.

First, a Camillus 101 Timber Scribe. It has the Four Line Tang Stamp which put's it in the 1940's. This one has no use. The Scribe tool is spotted and does have some tiny pitting, but if you look at the metal and the cutting edge of the tool, it has no wear. No looseness, and very strong snap and half stop. I will post more about it in the Old Camillus Pre 1960 thread.

Next is the 1985 Camillus CAMW3M Boy Scouts 75th Anniversary Knife. It is like new, and came in the box and wrap it was originally packaged with. I will also post more picks about it in the appropriate threads.

Lastly the Big-Un. A Camillus Elephant Toe or Sun Fish, which ever you prefer to call it. It has the Four Line Camillus tang stamp on the pile side tang of the smaller blade, and has the Sword Brand Crossed Swords tang stamp on the mark side of the large blade, which also has the double nail nics. The scales are wood, but may have some shellac. The blades are tight, no wobble and have strong snap. But they have been rusted and have left some pitting and rust pattern staining on the blades. It has been cleaned and buffed on the blades at sometime in it's live. The previous owner stated it was like that when he purchased it many years ago. I will also post more about it in Camillus Pre 1960 Thread.

So many great acquisitions being shown here.

Smitty, your camillus scout knocks me over. just an hour or two ago I was looking at my own Camillus Scout. While it is in fine condition it cannot match the panache yours offers.

Clark 23, our Marshall Wells is a beauty. I love EOs.

Marco, my understanding is this. Before a logging crew begins chopping down trees, an expert goes thru the area and uses the Timber Scribe to mark which trees are to be harvested.

Clark23, First cast iron knives I have seen. Didn't know they existed. So much I don't know. But that is what makes knives so interesting.

Great knives Clark! ::tu:: Please don't be afraid of posting too many knives, there's no such thing as too many knives around here! I'm particularly drawn to the models with only 1 blade, and all-metal bodied models are one of my favorites. Keep em' comin'! 8)

Thank you Marc. QuickSteel already gave a good explanation of the timber scribe, but I might also add that it was also used by carpenters especially by those cutting boards, for marking or numbering the boards or timbers for placement. Sawmill workers would also use it to mark boards for a certain lot.

It’s raining here today but I pulled a gifted knife from my mailbox today that means a great deal to me. I’m so lucky to have made friends with some of the most thoughtful people online/offline. I’m proud of this beauty.
