I had a package that showed delivered and a week later my regular mail guy said it was delivered to a home 3 miles away and not even close to the same address number nor same road if not for the honesty of the lady where it was delivered I would have never get it. It’s sad that USPS can’t find people who can read, and the cashiers at any convenience store that can count.

It was in 2021 during the Christmas season that I got a call from a neighbor up the road telling me that there was a bunch of mail stuffed in his mail box that wasn't his. He has limited mobility so I went and picked up the mail which included mine. The letters were for a couple of residents along my road. I delivered them then called the post office. I was sure the deed had been done by a temporary hire for the holidays. Our regular delivery person, now retired, always did a fine job.

Well I know that our mailman's route covers a lot of territory and it is a hard job . Probably even harder when you are just filling in part time. So I'll cut them a little slack. But I hope they bring my package tomorrow.

Nice Barlow there, Nick.

I got a knife in the mail about three weeks ago. USPS notified me it was delivered this past Saturday. Crazy!

Well the stag handle 5OT from Jeffin came in the mail today. Have to say it is by far the nicest knife in my little collection. I know this is strictly my decision but was wondering if I could hear some opinions on this knife. Jeff put a brand new factory unsharpened blade on this knife. To me the knife is too nice to EDC and I wonder if it would lower the future value of the knife if I sharpen it. I don't generally consider my knives as an investment but this one seems kind of unique to me. It will probably be a shelf queen and one day my son will own it. What would you do? sharpen or not? Interested to hear some opinions. thanks

That is a beautiful knife Nick. I am always impressed with the caliber of work from Jeffin. Awesome handles. As to what you should do...... it is totally up to you. There are merits to all you have said, but it is ultimately up to you as to how you want to enjoy this piece. As for what I would do if it was mine, I would have to carry it a bit to show it off. Be proud of it my friend and enjoy it. ::nod::

I'll sharpen it for you, but I don't give out band-aids!!

I think I'd just leave it as is...for now. It's definitely one I'd want to keep looking beautiful forever.

That's a good reason to carry it: show it off to fellow knife enthusiasts and give Jeff some more business! ::tu::

Beautiful knife.
If it were mine I would sharpen it and put it in pocket.

If you are keeping it as a collector, there’s no need to sharpen it. If you are going to use it, then it needs a good edge. For what it’s worth, I’d keep it as a collectible. It’s a beautiful knife and I’d be concerned about using it as it can get lost of damaged. I’d love to have it’s twin in my collection.

Today I got lucky & picked up a 1990 Buck Colt 703 3-blade Stockman. Very happy to have found this one. I was the only one who bid on it for some reason. ::shrug:: Oh well, good for me. ::nod:: ::super_happy::

Appreciate your comments guys! ::nod:: ::tu:: ::tu::

The seller (who was not a knifer) described it as an unused showcase piece. ::shrug:: ::hmm::
To me ::hmm:: the pictures tell a different story so I will see when it gets here what condition it's really in. If it is really "unused" I'd add it to my better showcase knives. And if it is used, I'll add it to my EDC's. Being the only bidder, it only cost me $23.50 shipped. A lot of Made in China knives cost that much & more here so I guess I did ok either way for a U.S. Made Buck knife. Used or unused. ::hmm:: And I'll be just as Happy about an EDC as I would be about a showcaser. ::nod:: ::super_happy::

Thank you Tim!

It's the kind of flipper design I like. I'm looking forward to putting 'er through it's pocket paces. And @ 50% off full Retail, for D2/G10/SS, I'm happy I picked 'er up.

I have wanted to try a Gerber kitchen knife for ages.

The M-2 HSS they use is said to be a really good performer, even today (although I could swear I've heard at least some were also 440C).

I wanted a Pixie, but those are upwards of $40 without wrecked blades as they are more practical for outdoor use; and even Gerber themselves marketed the Pixie as a Bird and Trout in addition to a steak knife.

I found a Miming here for $12 shipped, and decided to buy it to see how the steel performs and sharpening techniques. If I make a mistake sharpening, it's affordable enough to mess up. Heck, I can't buy a Mora Basic for $12 shipped anymore!

I think the Miming may still be usable as an outdoor knife--thinking it will be a great companion for hunting and fishing alongside a bigger blade. Else, it is a kitchen knife, so it may find its place there.
