Who made this Winchester

I am thinking about purchasing the Winchester in the picture but was wondering who made this particular knife. Was it made under contract by Queen??? I know someone out there will have the answer I don't have..

I am betting Blue Grass made it
I got a 1950 same pattern without the rifle sheild
Looks identical allmost & Blue Grass made it in 1989

That's definitely one of the ones made by Queen on contract to Bluegrass Cutlery.

Hello friends,

I knew knifeaholic had this answer! ....I'M not really sure because I don't work for them yet but it is my understanding that Bluegrass Cutlery doesn't produce any knife production at all, they just sub contract knife orders to Queen & other Cutlery Companys.

Thanks knifeaholic, I just took it when I bought the knife around 2000 and was told blugrass made it with all the original old winchester dies that they made it. Damm fine made knife though and that high carbon blade is still scarey sharp. Reckon thats why I stick to mostly my favorite knives, full stag Marbles, KA-BAR, Remington, Cases etc. Got a small collection of folders, but fixed blade stags are my passion. Great talkin with ya all and gettin some proper learnin up !!!

I don't know how long knife manufacturing equipment lasts, but I have always thought that many of the new Winchester patterns from Bluegrass look a whole lot like the Case Classics and Winchester reproductions from the 90's. The handle shapes, blade shapes, etc.

This has lead me to assume that they are Queen made knives.

Even more compelling however ...you can always take what knifeaholic says right to the bank, so that pretty much affirms that they certaintly are manufactured by Queen. I just wanted to share my observation.

You are correct, as far as I know Bluegrass does not manufacture knives...somewhere on this site there is posted a list of all the brands, past and present, that Queen has made. I started the list on another site and it has been added to.

I might believe that in the case of the Winchesters and Case Classics, Bluegrass probably provided the tooling (don't know that for a fact, but its a possibility). And whether it is/was authentic old tooling I have no idea. Would be interesting to get the real scoop on this BS(Blind Speculation).

I thought this may add to the discussion. I pulled this from an item description currently on ebay describing a Winchester swing guard...

This knife was built in 1994 by Bluegrass Cutlery who was also building the famous Case Classic knives during the same time period. The production was licensed and approved by Winchester. It was built using the original early 1900's tooling that was actually used on early issue pocket knives. This knife will be a very nice extension to a "Case Classics" collection or a Winchester collection
