XX marked vintage knives

Post by stumpstalker »

Please describe, and supply photos if possible, of any of vintage knives (say, pre-1970) that have with the XX mark, other than Case knives.

And if you can cite any literary or historical uses in business and industry of XX mark, for tangible objects, those would be appreciated, too.

This is for my own research and hopefully the enjoyment of forum members.

One that I know of is Royal Brand. I know little of this brand, I believe that they were only a distributor, not a manufacturer. Every example that I have seen I can trace to being made by either Imperial Knife Co (1920's to 30's era) or Utica Cutlery Company (1930's to 50's era).

Their earliest knives were tang stamped ROYAL BRAND XX SHARPCUTTER in a rectangle.

I'll see if I have one to post pics.

Griffon Cutlery used XX as one of their trademarks.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
