This is our second spring at our new place. There is a raised bed (8X16) about halfway down the back ridge that I have been wanting to plant a little garden in. It didn't look like it had been used in years, all overgrown with weeds. I weed-eatered it in the fall, and bought a little roto tiller to till it up, then I added in some top soil and cow manure and tilled that all up together. Added some anti-weed mesh, and planted tomatoes, peppers, okra, zucchini, cantaloupe, and cucumbers. And I ran a little irrigation system from a faucet on the back of the shop, down the slope and through the woods. It has a little 9 volt battery-powered timer on the faucet to water twice a day.

So far everything is popping up nicely. Tomatoes have blooms. It's not a big garden, but I am excited to have one again. I haven't had a garden since I moved out of my parents house in 1980. We'll see how it does. I told my wife, "So far, each tomato is going to cost about $50".

Very cool, Unk! Hope you get a nice harvest! Great choices too. 😋

The cherry blossoms are falling like pink snow at our place. 🌸

Also found some morels at the farm on Saturday. Others looked but I was the only successful hunter so far. Not much, but froze them for soup making. I have an awesome Leek, potato and morel soup recipe. Hopefully I can find some more next weekend, I think it's still early yet. 🍄

Daffodils are all done blooming. Time for the annual iris bloom in our flower beds. The blue salvia is just starting but it will bloom until frost.

Thanks Ike. It keeps me busy! Yes, that is a Guinea fowl. We have several that live with our chickens (most of the time). Very entertaining critters - and quite possibly the downright dumbest animal of all.

Scott, what in the world are y'all going to do with 3 Blueberries and 9 Blackberries? ::poke:: :)
We are going to have a great crop of Blueberries this season, they take the late cold very well.
The Mulberry tree put on a tremendous amount of fruit and one of the last freezes caused all the berries to drop. :(
Seems like the Sand Pears also got hit pretty hard. Don't see much fruit on that tree. Won't be any pictures of the deer, coons, coyotes and such eating pears this season. :(
The Pecan trees are full of bloom, they always seem to know when to bloom, after the last cool snap.
We only have our raised beds planted so far, tomatoes, peppers and a few squash. Need to turn some dirt and plant some Zipper Cream peas.
The gardening type threads are always interesting to read and see the great pictures!

Glad to see your post TF, it reminded me I need to get my cream peas planted! My garden is way behind this year but not too late to plant peas.

Found a new wildflower in the pasture, growing in the edge of the bluebonnets. Had to look it up but I think it’s called winecup, aka Buffalo rose. Maybe it will seed and be more prolific next year. ::tu::

Mike, your garden looks a lot better than mine! ::tu::

Good to see your blooming beauties bh!

I’m envious of your hanging baskets. ::tu:: Our trees are too big (lots of shade) around the house so anything we hang around the porches have to be shade lovers. Which don’t generally have prolific flowers.

Thank you, Ken.

Some deer got into it the other night and ate the tops of some of my okra, tomatoes, and destroyed one or two cantaloupe plants.

I bought a little "Solar Animal Repeller" off Amazon. It has an ultrasonic tone, flashing lights, and an alarm on it. Looks like a game camera. I set it out today - we'll see if it keeps the varmints out of the garden.
