Wingfield and Rowbotham,pretty good condition for it’s age I guess. Still has excellent snap and no wobble on the blades. Thanks for looking!

Bill, That backspring is almost 3/16' thick. Keeps it snappy!

DJK: Never seen a fixed blade like that. It's a rare bird!
Here's it's folding cousin. Blade stamped SAYNOR, tang stamped SHEFFIELD ENGLAND, pile side tang stamped SAYNOR, COOKE, & RIDAL. Again, integral bolsters and a thick, strong backspring, butt plate, and great stag. J.O'.

DJK: What was the box in the pic for?
I'm guessing a fixed blade Hawk would need a sheath of some kind in a field or orchard. I'm wondering if it was part of some kind of specialized set of cutlery and maybe not just a pruner, It is really a mysterious thing. Looks like it has a full tang. Maybe a butchers piece or even medical. ????????

It's just a sleeve that the knife fits into just like ink scrapers come in. The knife is just a basic fixed blade hawkbill.____Dave

Hi Mike. I don't know if you still have the knife, but I recently acquired an almost identical one. It turns out the address is" G.H. Richards 234 Borough, London, S.E., England", and they were a horticultural supplier in England. Mr. Google turned up a few of their ads from the early 1900's in the Florist and Nursery Exchange. The ads are on microfilm, so the best I could do is a screenshot. I'm assuming they were made for Richards by one of the Sheffield knife makers. Mine is also marked "3", so maybe they were made in other sizes as well?
