Appaloosa bone always kind of made me think of it looking like mammoth ivory on a poor man's budget. I kinda like the looks of the app. bone on that account. I've seen some that looks alot better than mammoth IMO.

You've got some really good looking example there. esp. the barlow pile side.

Thanks for sharing!

I must be a little dumb, but I don't know what appolasa bone is, does it come from an appolaso horse or what. It sure is pretty.

It's just regular old smooth cow bone. It's called "appoloosa" because the spots from the dye job resemble the spots on an appaloosa horse, or at least someone in Case's marketing division thought so. :)

No horses were harmed in the making of these pocketknives. :P

I know Boker has a series of Appaloosa Bone pocket knives. I haven't seen any up front but they sure look pretty in their catalog

SHHHH don't tell my horses, I threaten them with ending up as a knife handle all the time, :D but these are really just cow bone dyed to look like an Appaloosa. It seems to work better than the old "you're going to the glue factory" threat for some reason. The Appy bone thing seems to make this guy more nervous than the others for some reason

Found one last Appy bone, it is a Frost Japan Razor Trapper so I kind of had it hid... ::paranoid:: But I like the pattern and the bone is nice

Here's a couple. The first is purple appaloosa bone and the other is peacock appaloosa bone. Both are from Case. Sorry the pics aren't that great.

Leo, I haven't seen the Boker appaLucy before thanks for posting that one. ::tu::

Here is my most recent AppleLucy acquisition
1999 Case 6249 Item # 02361.

Same seller has a 1998 red appaloosa 6249 ending today @ 6:43PM EDST.
I already have one smooth red so won't be bidding on the above, so have at it.
