High Lonesome

Post by carvin don »

I finished and painted this carving this past Wednesday, the day we lost Johnnie. Carvers often like to say that painting a carving brings it to life. If so, I reckon' this fella' knew of Johnnie's passing and was singin' to him a good 'ol good one. Perhaps that's what caused me to use the same color scheme on him as I did on Johnnie's carving...I like to think so. Every time I look at "High Lonesome" I can't help but think that he's singin' up to Johnnie ::tu::

Dog gone it Don, I can almost hear that banjo music as that feller whistles a tune.
Sounds like Bluegrass from here. :D

You've done a fantastic job once again. ::tu::

A great carvin' Don.

You couldn't have paid a better tribute to Johnnie than with the one you did for his last birthday. I'm sure he cherished it.

Johnnie LOVED that carving Don did for him.
I was talking to Johnnie the week before he died & he was still talking about that carving.
Randy went to the service today & he said the carving was a centerpiece there.
Both Johnnie & Annette told me how much he liked it and really appreciated it.
He also told me how much he thought of Philco for commissioning it & paying for it.
Johnnie thought that carving was the coolest thing in the world!
