The first knife I bought without a chaperone. I carried it every day for almost twenty years. I used it, I abused it, I loved it. Unfortunately I finally managed to kill it. I normally don’t believe in safe queens, but I’m going to keep this one fresh. Every time I look at it I’ll remember the day I unboxed “old number 1”
Beautiful 110 Willie! ::tu:: Although I don't even own a Buck I've always preferred the 110's over the 112's, and I guess that's strictly cuz the 110 is a bit bigger. Your knife appears to be brand new and looks great! Did you give any consideration into getting their auto version, I've heard they are quite snappy and very reliable? ::shrug:: Thx! 8)

Papa Bones wrote: Fri Apr 22, 2022 4:42 pm Well, received this one a few days ago, had to do some clean-up, another fixer-upper. A 3-5/8 Cattleman's Knife I believe made by Camillus for Sears. It has bone handles, brass liners, A Spear point master blade, Sheepsfoot, secondary, and pen on the final. As received, It was rusty, the handle has a chip missing on the mark side center pin, the Main blade had a piece missing, all blades were stiff & gritty, and had been dropped on the end. So, did my usual cleanup and reformed the master blade back to a spear point. Amazing what a hot mineral oil spa treatment will do. Not only to flush out gunk, but to rejuvenate the bone. Now it is a decent EDC, and has some new life in her. All blades have great snap, and only the Master blade has a small bit of wobble. Here's some pics.

Beautiful Smitty! ::uc:: I love the touch-ups you performed to bring a dead old knife back to life! ::nod:: I hadn't heard of a "hot mineral oil treatment" but it sure did breath new life into those bone covers, they actually appear "refreshed", and those bolsters are poppin'! Congrats buddy! 8)

Appreciate it Marc. Not only does it help the bone, but seems to help in removing surface rust and gunk in the blade wells.

Hey buddy! Yes it did come from Ebay, but there were about 4 out there when I bought this one. It was the only one without a box, and was also the most expensive asking price. But, he had a make offer option, so I made a fair offer for one with no box that was a bit scratched, and he accepted it. So, if you were looking at the expensive one with no box, this is it! I'll get you some pics tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words Glenbad, Cody, tmk, Papa Bones, and Marco. ::handshake::

Marco, I briefly thought it would be fun to have a 110 from every year I’ve lived. Then I thought about the money and space I would have to dedicate to a large fleet of fundamentally duplicate knives, and I got over it!

Schrade Walden 204--this time, the right knife.

Has seen little use, and looks to have been kept up by its former owner. There is a little crud in the pivots, but that's about it.

"Push Center Lock Left to Release" etch is still prominent on the screwdriver. Out of about a dozen electrician's knives I have, this is the first to have an intact etch.
KIMG0029.JPG

A few days earlier, the seller had sent this one by mistake, but let me keep it. It's a 1960s-1970s era woodgrain Delrin 204S, quite similar to the Craftsman models produced in the same time period.
20220420_142237.jpg
That basically equates to two knives for $25. Seller was asking that for each knife. I think the price was a steal for the 204, but excessive for the well-used and damaged 204S (bent lock, screwdriver that has weak closing snap).

Thanks Kerry, ::handshake:: I hate wondering bout' stuff like that! ::hmm:: The one I was watching was B.I.N. of US$119., and I don't believe it had a box, but he wouldn't ship to me. I was considering asking Mark(SSk)to buy it and ship it to me, but then realized I didn't have the funds, hence not pulling the trigger! It's gorgeous, I'm glad you got a copy! 8)

Ahh, I know what you mean Willie! ::nod:: I have been attempting to obtain the manual AND automatic versions of as many knives as I can, and although I've being fairly successful at this it has to stop somewhere, and for the exact reasons you stated, space and money! At one point I was collecting identical daggers with different lengths and cover materials, and it was after completing that project that I realized I have a bunch of virtually the same knife, and with sooooo many other knives available out there that pretty much cured me of the obsession! I did wind up with a bunch of very cool knives though! 8)

Very nice Goldpan. The Craftsman 9494 you have there with those particular style handles and the smooth long pull nail nic was produced by Ulster.
