I doubt it’s me, but if it is I don’t want to know. ::facepalm::

Collecting anything you like is OK with me, BUT "poison ivy memorabilia", really? Just reading that is making me start to itch! ::teary_eyes::

I would bet 2100 knives is not anywhere near the largest collection.
Roland/kj said he had over 10,000 at one time, if I'm not mistaken.

Without naming names, I'm certain a few of our members could shatter that record.

I am real tempted to make a few guesses! Notice that they call him a knife addict. I suppose that means that knife addiction is really a recognized condition these days.

Looks like it would take about 3 new GEC’s to pay for the new world record: https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/faqs

A few people I know have much larger collections, and they don't talk about it or advertise it for a world record. One of the largest collections back in the 80's was stolen from a man's home. Most big time collectors don't go around broadcasting it to the general public.

It makes me wonder about the process. You’d think there would have to be a public announcement of some sort.

Its been talked about on two major knife collecting forums and not one person was even asked if that is a legitimate record quantity.

That's because most people aren't into bragging.

It's a legitimate record in that he followed the rules, documented with a video of what he had, paid his application fee and sent in the video. The video was simply him walking along the rows of knives laid out on a gym floor making a video of his knives. Then he and the world had to wait while some schmuck with a clip board got paid to count the knives as they went by in the video. And no one has chosen to beat his record. And I am sure there are at least a dozen or two folks on here that have more knives than he does.

When the individual "made" the record, my niece and nephew, independently of each other, asked "Don't you have more knives than that?"

My reply was

"Yeah, at least double what he has, but there are other folks out there that make me look like a johnnny-come-lately piker. Besides, why would I want to advertise to the world what I have? I'll show pics to other collectors but to the world at large? Nope."
