Despite our best efforts, sometimes like with teenagers, nature finds a way! My female Mt. Cur is an escape artist. When I first brought her home she could find the tiniest of cracks in the pen or back yard fence and squeeze herself through it and go hunting. Then she’d come back home and PUT HERSELF BACK UP! She’s smarter than I am.

Well on one of those excursions she went on an unapproved “date” with my Australian Shepherd herding dog. Here’s the result, 7 of the portliest puppies you’ve ever seen. Mutts for sure, but I’m betting they’ll make pretty good farm dogs.

If you lived anywhere close I’d give you one or seven!

That reminds me, I do trade dogs for knives…. Just saying…, lol

Often enough mutts can be great dogs. Currently, mixing pure breds is popular which is an unfortunate trend in that significant health problems are common.

I agree completely. I can get in my soapbox quick about dog breeding.

I used to raise English Shepherds, a very small breed of old fashioned farm shepherd or herding dogs. But the small breed got so genetically bottle necked that I couldn’t find good breeding stock anymore. Their good traits had about vanished and negative traits were showing up. They desperately needed some out crossing to their “cousins” the Border Collies and Australian Shepherds to help the breed. But would the powers that be allow that? Nope.

Now I have an Australian shepherd. But it’s getting hard to find a good working dog here too. Their problem is that they’re too popular. People are breeding anything and everything that has a certain look, and we’re loosing some of the grit and herding ability. So who knows what will happen there.

See I told you I could get up on my soap box. Lol.

Thanks guys. My youngest boy is in hog heaven with them. By the time he gets done wallering them around and packing them everywhere he goes, three at a time, they’ll be the most socialized set of pups you’ve ever seen. Lol

Bonni Belle MaGlathery Noyes crossed that euphemistic Rainbow Bridge today at 3:30 PM.

I told her to look up Bootsie, CIDG, Mitzi and Cassie and to let them know Sarah and I would be along directly.

Seventeen years and two months of unmitigated joy with this girl.

We will miss her.

Charlie, it grieves me to read of your loss. The loss of our Maddie and Kobi 3 years ago still brings me to tears. This is sad news and it leaves a big hole in your life. I pray and hope that you can enjoy the memories without the sadness of the loss.
