Hammer Brand Scout Knife Tang stamp
I came across a Hammer Brand Scout knife in decent condition. The tang stamp has made me very curious. I am hoping someone can help me out. The stamp looks like a 1945-1955 stamp but it is upside down and deep. Also, to the left of the stamp are the letters "TER" on the top row and "A." on the bottom row. It looks like a separate tang stamp which was only half on the blade. In addition, The nail nick on the main blade appears to have been started in the middle of the blade. I am curious if this was a replacement blade, a knife that was stamped on a Friday afternoon, or if there is more to it.

Looks to me like an odd factory error. This knife was made by Ulster, circa 1950's to 60's. Looks like they hit the tang with both stamps, each leaving a partial mark.

Shando: Agree with Knifeaholic, missed stamp on an ULSTER USA. Neat oddity. J.O'.

Thank you for the information. Does a miss-stamp on a knife affect the value as it does with coins?

Given the number and variety of knife "addictions" out there, I'd bet there are some who specialize in miss-stamped oddities. No opinion of it's value, just commenting.
