George Woodhead
Dobie Glasgow
Can someone tell me any idea about when the GWI might have been made? Thanks
Not sure why the photos are not all turned the same way and don’t know how to correct it? Thanks for looking.

Two more! ::tu:: ::tu:: According to Tweedale, George Woodhead died in 1884 and his son died in 1885. He does say that the mark was aquired by Thomas Ellin and then by Joseph Elliot, but, does not indicate whether or not these companies actually used it.

Thanks Dan for the comments and information. That’s what I was wondering myself if the Woodhead was an older one or made later after he passed away? Thanks Dan

Great showing of some fine knives in this thread.
Miller Bros., that's a wonderful box from Ibberson and the first I have seen from that company, good score.
Here is a post WWII Southern & Richardson folder with black horn handles sitting next to a box from the same company.
Both the knife and box host the "Nest" trademark.

Thanks, I find old English knife boxes in general are much harder to find than their American counterparts ::nod::

Great Mappin & Webb whittler. Along with Jos. Rodgers & IXL Wostenholm, they were the 3 best of the best Sheffield knife makers.

Thanks Roland ::tu:: They all still have excellent snap except for the whittlin blades on the G. Farmer. They surely did know how to make some really good knives in those days!

Here's an I*XL "sleeveboard" lobster. Single bolster. Oddly the blade is chipped but the pearl is not! ::shrug:: . J.O'.
