Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

This is today's latest Camillus 72 variation that I acquired. Another McGrew ARKANSAS USA, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife (my third). No evidence of ever having a blade etch. I gave it a gentle once over, but it was in very nice condition. These are MY pictures.

Oh, now I see. You had it upside down.

Joining my Camillus 72 variation family today is another Schrade 863, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife. It definitely needed a thorough cleaning, it received one. The "before" pictures are here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46672&start=1740#p777425

Soon to join my illustrious family of Camillus 72 variations, is this Camillus 80. I don't anticipate having to do any kind of cleaning, as this knife looks to be in FANTASTIC condition. My first pattern 80 and I can't wait. I'll post MY pictures when I receive it. These are the seller's pictures.

Yesterday, these three pocket knives found their way to my Camillus 72 variation collection. They are, (2) CRAFTSMAN 9494s and a BEAR MGC, Scout knife. The two CRAFTSMAN knives needed some cleaning, the BEAR MGC did not. I really don't see what all the fuss about the BEAR MGC is/was. All 3 blades have a snap that would embarrass a crocodile. None of the blades have any degree of wobble. The handles are in great shape. The blade etch is clear, clean and present. The tang stamp is clear and deep. Again, I do not intend to use the BEAR MGC, it's just for my collection. Bottom line, I'm pleased with it and that's all that really matters. These are MY pictures. Click on a picture to ENLARGE.

Skip, you're avoiding voicing any judgment of the Bear. Any particular reason?

Very soon, this pocket knife will be added to my collection. Yet another Camillus 72 variation, a FORGED USA pocket knife. FORGED USA was one of Sears Roebuck & Company's trademark names and was made for them by the Camillus Cutlery Company. When I receive it, I will give it the once over, take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s). Here's what it looks like now.
