XX Large Fake

It's hard to figure where to begin with this insult to one of the early 20th Century's greatest pieces of the cutler's art, namely the Case 61098 Pattern. So I'll start with the cover region (fake 1): These handles may be bone but the jumbo jigging--three gouges and one crater--is all wrong. The pins sit way to far in. The Shield is set crooked and the lettering is correct for the XX era but not for the era's the 61098 was made in*. This leads to the next problem (fake 2&3): The 61098 Toothpick/Tickler/et al. was discontinued after the Tested XX Era. So besides the fact that the tang has been cold stamped it is also incorrect. Finally, The 61098 was the largest Toothpick/Tickler Case produced (frame just under 5 1/2" --Blade Just under 4 1/2") This one is 5".

As ZP4ja/Jerry said in another post the "overall read" screams "Fake!" These are some of the many details that lead to that scream.

*It's a bit of a moot point to be made here but There are Tested XX Era 61098s that have what looks like XX era open "C"s in the shields rather than the typical curved inward "C". They are the exception rather than the rule (tested XX open "C")

If your religion requires that you hate someone, you need a new religion.

When the people fear their government, that is tyranny. When government fears the people, that is freedom.

Somehow I double posted this, perhaps while editing it after first post. All my pictures are in the other one. Thanks.
