ADDITIONAL INFO:     The Open Stock Schrade 708 was a Schrade Cut Co. pattern that was carried over into the Schrade Walden. It is listed in the Schrade Walden catalogs from 1948 to 1979. It was likely made continuously from the Schrade Cut Co. days, we just don't have full catalog sheets for every year.

As most of you know Schrade Walden stopped using the Walden name and dropped it from the tang stamp in mid-1973. Schrade Walden had been using the plastic tubes for quite some time before the name change in mid-1973. The paper insert in this box says Schrade Walden on the end and on the side as well. It is likely that they were still using up preprinted labels from before the name change and finished using them up and then switch to new labels with the Schrade name. It is also possible that someone put a post 1973  knife in this box when a collection was sold as part of an estate. There is really no way to tell what actually happened in this case. But there is a nice Schrade Walden 708 plastic tube with the printed cardboard liner and label and a Schrade 708 Serpentine Jack that was made somewhere between mid 1973 and 1979 when the pattern last appeared in the Schrade catalogs or pricelists.
