ADDITIONAL INFO:     Introduced in 1960 the 8OT is the longest produced pattern in the Old Timer line. It was produced from 1960 until Schrade closed in 2004. Although these were made by the millions they are getting harder to find, especially in decent condition. People bought these and used them, they were made as tools to use, not as a collectable knife. But now 16 years after the closing of Schrade it is getting harder and harder to find a good Schrade 8OT. About 8 or 10 years ago I did traded some work for a small wall display of Old Timers. It hung in my family room for many years (out of direct sunlight of course) but the red background that held the knives began to deteriorate. I pulled the knives from the display so would not become damaged. This 8OT came from that display. The display came from British Columbia, originally from the distributor for Schrade in that area. My friend acquired the display from the former distributor. Because of that we know that this display was manufactured just after Schrade Walden changed their name to Schrade. The display was sent to the distributor in the latter half of 1973. I took these knives from the display about a year ago and have had them sealed in a plastic tote. Most of the knives from this display case appear to me to be in better condition than other knives I have removed from the boxes for the first time. I’m not sure if Schrade cherry picked the knives for the display or not, but it appears that that might be the case. Of course, being a wall display there was no room for boxes or sheaths. I do have an 8OT box I will be shipping this knife in, it is an 8OTY box, called Frontiersman, not the 8OT Senior. However, this box will protect the knife in shipping.
