Need INFO on FW Jordan Advertising knife Solingen... HELP

Post by accujohn »

I just picked it up because it was nice and very well made. FW Jordan Solingen is the only tang mark. Does not have the dancing dutch couple logo, so maybe it pre-dates that??? Also, no clue yet about the advertising product.

Looks like Maggi's Wurze is a seasoning sauce, not unlike soy sauce.

See wiki attachment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maggi-Wurze

I have no ideas on the tang stamp ::shrug::
I dig half stops!!

I can´t help you with the maker of the knife but can provide some info on the "Maggi" product and company.

Maggi is a very well known product in Germany. It is so common that it is a meanwhile a synonym for seasoning sauce like Worcestershire or the like. It´s foodstuff that has a very long storage life. My grandfather was a merchant and we inherited a 5 litre canister of this stuff that dated from before the war and it was still good to use!

The words on the "bottle" mean: " On every table, Maggi flavor, cross star, well-proven"
and on the back: "In every kitchen, for improving weak soups and dishes"

Cool knife, certainly a collectible! ::tu::

OMG, it´s knives again!
