Found: Joh Engstrom's Tool box? You be the judge. Barrel kni

Post by Doug_I »

I found this toolbox with some things from my father, after he passed in 1997. I just uncovered it again in the back of my storage unit, and decided to take a better look. What I found was some hand made tools, some marked with J.E. and a barrel knife. 56 pictures have been taken, if there are any need for more just ask. I am excited about this find, but I want to know for sure so any help here would be appreciated. I have also sent these pictures to Per Thoresen and asked his opinion.
thanks for looking.
Doug

::welcome::

That would be very hard to prove, unless you are directly related.

Those look like carpenter and mechanic tools, not what a cutler would use.

I would agree;in addition to the augers,the tool sitting on top of them is for setting the teeth on a saw(I believe).I have several pairs that I got out of old carpenter's tool boxes.
