HELP!! I have no clue!!
Hello all!! I am new to the wonderful world of knives and this site. I recently came into a collection of Fight'n Rooster knives (about 30 of them). I have no clue on where to start. Some are in near mint while others look to have wear from time on them. I dont have the first clue on cleaning an restoring any of them, and would hate to ruin the beautiful craftmanship of these knives.I have yet to get pictures of all of them but any advice on cleaning at this point would be wonderfulThe wear left in a display case and the string mounting them has left some marks and there looks to be some build up in the crook where you pill the knives apart. Are these refurbishable? any info will be helpful Thanks a ton!!!

Set your camera for macro and use the light coming in from a window.
Outside shots in the shade are always best.

Tim, Your a good guy. And I know you love those German made knives. I hate hearing about F~N~R's being left in a display case followed by how to clean and restore them and are they refurbishable. Lets just hope theres a lot of stag. The Germans wouldn't have masterminded a plan to make a celluloid that would gas out worse than any that came before it,would they? Could they? They are just so good at so many things with the exception of modern Celluloids and the glue that holds the Boker and Henckels emblems in... I'm thinking they outsourced possibly to China...
Okay I'll shut up and wait for the pictures. Cross your fingers

gabriella -- Welcome to AAPK. Always good to "see" a fresh face around here.
Are all the pieces in the collection straight razors or are some of them pocket knives? I don't know anything about straight razors other than I'm too chicken to shave with one. We have at least one guy here who collects them. Owd Wullie is his screen name and he doesn't come around as often as he did before he got into the straight razors.
I sent an email to him, asking if he could stop by and take a look at what you have. Just keep checking back. I'm sure he'll show up sooner than later.
BTW, Frank Buster made some beautiful knives. It doesn't surprise me he made a beautiful straight razor.

Wow Gabriella......the folding hunter is just beautiful. I thought you couldn't get good pictures. Ha!!
As far as cleaning, get some Mothers Mag polish and soft clothes to clean the metal.
I have used it on the pearl as well. I like to use large eyeglass cleaner clothes.

My main concern with cleaning is ruining the paint on the blades in the etching..
