SAK blade steel change?

I read someplace a while back, that Victorinox changed their blade steel about 2000 or 2001 to a better grade of stainless. Anyone else hear that?

Also, since I love sak's, I've got both Victorinox and Wenger on hand. It seems to me that my old Wenger SI holds a bit better edge than the Vic pioneer. Maybe my imagination?
