SOLINGEN POCKET KNIFE "JOSEPH FEIST" GERMAN SILVER KNIFE

Post by Draac »

The old knife has Silver handles with a Lion , flowers and people on them. The vintage knife is marked JOSEPH FEIST SOLINGEN on the longest blade . The old knives is about 2 7/8" long closed and about 6" long with both blades open . The small old knife looks like some kind of Masonic or mason knife but not sure ? The markings are what looks like: HELVFTIORUM , FIDET , AC , VIRTUTI on one side and CELL on the other side . The old pocket knife has a Cross in a flag , the Sun and other odd marking on the handles.

Neat old knife.

I see no Masonic connection in the design.

THe text translates to To the Loyalty and Courage of the Swiss

Looks like it is a souvenir knife for this.

I have a Jos.Feist knife with that inscription on it as well.I think what you are seeing is the word TELL on there. The second knife I have pictured has the reclining lion on one side and William Tell and his son on the other(as has yours).I also believe the scales are aluminum rather than German silver.
