My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

My first with this stamp. Schrade over Cut Co over Walden NY. According to my book 1917 - 1946. All three blades are stamped. All are pretty full. Have a few spots I could clean up a little with some elbow grease if I choose. No shrinkage. Is this celluloid?

Yes it is celluloid.

It is a beautiful example! ::tu::

But I would keep a close eye on the handles for any sign of deterioration.

OPEN SHIELD SIDE AND BOX.JPG
I could use a little help with this one..33ot..Black sawcut delrin..brass bolsters and shield..I just can't find any more models like it..Looks a lot like the copenhagen and skoal models...came in a little white box with a barcode and CSC33..the tang stamp is SCHRADE over USA 33OT. The shield is a roped oval with SCHRADE on it..the same as on the 2000-2002 Special Edition blue bone set and the 2003 Special Edition amber bone set.

Hi All,

Here is a sweet old Schrade I ran across a while back. I didn't see it in the schrade lists but found it in the http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us 1953 and 1954 price lists, (it was not in the 1950 nor the 1955 list).

I think it is celluloid, should I be scared of it or is its current condition indicative of it being stable?

It is a beautiful knife and I am quite pleased to have found it. It is a Schrade Walden 826.

Regards,
Russell

That 2ot is a beauty..I'm waiting on the mail...I bought an open stock 308 yesterday. I'm just hoping it is as good as the pictures. It's not really what I'm watching for right now but it was only made one year..1957..and for $13.55
how can I go wrong...heck, any Schrade for that price is nice...the pic is off Ebay but I will post some more when I get it.

If you type "Schrade Cope" into eBay you will find 10 or 20 of those black handled knives. Ken

Not familiar with an 803. Your pic looks like it could be an 808, first listed in the catalog in 1952 with bone handles and milled liners. Went to Delrin about 1960 and as such in the pic would be made with that tang stamp until 1973. Looking forward to your pic when it comes in.

An older gent I work with came back from vacation today.
He has scores of older knives, muskets, black powder, Civil War collectibles etc etc.
Knows I always have a "jacknife" on me but thinks I'm crazy if I pay more than $3 for a knife!
Anyway he shows me this and says he got it in Biddeford Maine at a flea market for $3.
Said I can have it for $8 to help pay for his trip.
I couldn't give him a $10 dollar bill fast enough, hugged him, in public, in a Costco and said keep the change.

By the way, told my wife about this and she says with a straight face" maybe you can get him to buy you knives, they're alot cheaper."

Nice pickup!
My wife likes to go with me to the flea market.
She is pretty good at spotting knives for me. She will call or text me the row and table that has the knives.
Sometimes she will stand there and make sure I get there to see the knife before someone else gets it.
She really gets into it and has developed a pretty good eye!

Every now & then she will buy some knives because she likes them or for me to sell for her at the show.
She is still learning but she does pretty good! ::nod::
