My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Both 204s are obviously made with a through pin, not the Swinden system. They were probably made at Camillus.

I can’t see any pin in the bolsters of the Barlows. I suspect Camillus made the blades for them and Schrade assembled them, OR maybe Schrade did use the S.C.C. stamp in their factory? ::shrug::

Received a Schrade Walden 861 in yesterday's mail. Surprise, surprise, it has bone handles and jimping on the spring side of the liners. A trip through the sonic cleaner and some fresh oil has all the blades snapping now. Couple of very small chips in the handles and one small tight rocker pin crack along with a slightly tipped spay blade but other than that everything is copacetic. I'm quite pleased for $15 shipped. Now if I could just find a bone handle Camillus #69 to go along with it.

Cal -- That's a really nice bone handled #69. I gots to get me one of those. ::drool::

Mike - Same-same for that 236. It looks like the Schrade version of the Camillus #14. How long is it closed? I can't find it in any of the Schrade catalogs I have access to. Sucker is in super condition. Now you made me want to find one of those too.

Thanks Jerry.
Dale has it listed under the Schrade open stock knives in the research area...although it is only listed there as having black comp handles. If you do a search for Schrade Walden 236 there is a thread dedicated to it where Dale goes into more detail about the pattern and it's variants.

It is just a bit over 3 1/2 "...actually listed at 3 9/16 I believe.

From what I was able to figure from the accumulated info, the bone version that I have was produced between 1958 -- 1962...

In getting ready for the OKCA show I have been going through some old knives and trying to thin the herd a little.
In the process I found 2 Schrade Waldens I didn’t know I had; a 294 with good walk and talk and no blade wobble.
I have been EDCing it for about a week now & LOVE it! ::ds::
I have wanted to find one for a long time because I like a larger slim clip & a pen blade. I actually use the pen blade more than the clip blade.
The 294 was discontinued in 1965, so examples of them are hard to find.
Schrade Walden 294 a.jpg
Schrade Walden 294 b.jpg
I also found an 8OT with the end of the clip blade broken. It looks like the knife was carried long enough to develop a nice patina and then the tip was broken and the knife put away and forgotten and not used or carried. The snap of the clip is one of the strongest I have seen on an 8OT, actually stronger than I prefer. But I really like a Wharncliffe so I made a Wharncliffe blade from the clip blade. I may modify the spey blade into a pen blade and it would be a near ideal knife for me!
Schrade Walden 8OT Wharnnie a.jpg
Schrade Walden 8OT Wharnnie b.jpg

Now I have 2 new EDCs I am packin’ while trying to finish some projects before the show, and a big smile on my face!

Got lucky and managed to purchase these three new in the box.
I had 3, 33ot's before but couldn't resist these 2 others in mint condition.

Picked this up at a local knife show this past weekend. I dig Canoes and blade etchings, so the lovely stag sealed the deal.

Some very pretty jacks in the #236 pattern were shown recently. I just received one in un-used condition, with the very early 1950s tang stamping, meaning no pattern number, and missing the U.S.A. in the stamp. This one has the more common slick black handles, in perfect condition and very snappy. There is a little staining remaining after a quick clean-up. A very light touch with a hone and it is razor sharp and in my pocket this morning, as I watch it snow, AGAIN.

Nice Schrades everyone.
Here is an example of a USA made 152ot Sharpfinger pictured with a Taylor brand one just for comparison.
I don't know if the US one is typical of standard Sharpfingers or not. It definately is differently shaped than the "new" one. The previous owner could have altered it or not.It was reasonably priced and in decent shape including the sheath.
For what it's worth the "New" 152ot appears to be well made.
These are my firsts of this neat pattern.
Thanks, Producer

Producer, thank's for posting the pictures of the 152OT's so you could see the difference.

Here is a Old Timer MM89 that Jerry 1868 re-addressed to me as the seller would not post international
This MM89 was made by Schrade.I have a Old Timer MM8 and it was made by Camillus ( Third picture: you can tell it has pins through the bolster and a extra liner ).

No Swinden Key right? Is that 80t size for both of those?

They are both 8OT size( I measured them and the Schrade is a few thousand of a inch wider.Could he the thickness of the bolsters ) .The old difference is the MM89 has a serrated blade like the Old Timer 89OT ( same knife different tang stamp )

Thanks, those are interesting with the serrated blade.
I have a black Delrin Camillus, ss, stockman pattern with a serrated sheepsfoot in 34OT size.
The serrated blade is very sharp.
