Wullie, those bolsters on the second knife are sweet! Any clue of what you have there?

Here's another that's kind of unusual. A Vom Cleff corn knife, fixed blade(?) The two halves slide together when open and reverse to close.

Re: Old and Obscure Brands
I think it's an old German "export" knife. The shield was glued in and now it's gone. The scales are some kind of composition. I picked it up because it was cheap and had straight pulls on all the blades. It's a tiny little thing. I don't usually mess with knives less than 3.5" or so. This one is about 2.75 or 3".gino wrote:Wullie, those bolsters on the second knife are sweet! Any clue of what you have there?

Re: Old and Obscure Brands
Here's one you don't see often. Tioga Cutlery. No doubt it is of German descent. Notice the integral handle/bolsters. Tortoise shell inlay. Fancy little knife. Thanks wild/mild Bill for sending it my way. Well made little knife 1875- 1900 Circa.
Next is one you just don't see much in a pocket knife. WESKE Cutlery of Sanduskly OH Just after the second WW, they purchase unassembled knives from the top manufacturers and put their name on them. Mostly you see fine fixed blade knives with this stamp. But they did do some pocket knives as well. Nicely made I might add too. Check out this fine example. The tie to PA you ask? If you read my first book you will see that Bill Atkins of Tidioute was asked to go to WESKE to teach them how to make Pocket Knives. He meet his wife there and then returned to Tidioute. The rest they say is HISTORY and man I love knife history.

I would guess, that this, was a Tidioute pattern??---before becoming a WESKE ????? Was the number #33 used in either of the knife patterns,of the early makers ????? _________Monk

Re: Old and Obscure Brands
You guys ever seen an Imperial Stainless stamp on the front side of the main blade and a Catskill Knife Co., New York, stamp on the back? I just wish this knife didn't have the pin cracks in the scales.
Anyone have information on the Catskill Knife Co.? Thanks!

Re: Old and Obscure Brands
Hey Knife I just got a S & A the other day on Ebay and the link is listed below, but can hardly find any info on it other than they were a hardware distributor in NY but I think they were as big as HS&B. Sorry for not being able to give you a good shot of my own but I'm having problems getting pics off of my computer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWNX:IT
