Interesting topic...I have a collection of 80 antique celluloid handled knives - all of them are "metal flake" type. Many Imperials from the 1920's era, and other brands including Utica, Case, Keen Kutter, and Harris Brothers.

I can post more pics if people are interested.

Those are indeed "baseball bat" shaped knives made by Imperial Knife Co.

I plan on selling it as a collection at least for now.

Knifeaholic...

I'm not worthy!!!

Dang, I have knife envy...

Those are some real beauties. Way to make us feel inadequate.

Nah, seriously, your stuff is outstanding, and you clearly are a "knifeaholic".

Might I also say thanks for all the questions you have answered here, and "there" as well.

Phil,
I know how you love toothpicks, so here is a mini Hammer. I don't think I have posted it here yet, but please forgive me If I have. Please pardon the bark blade, another trick of the scanner. The blade is really bright & shinny. This is a celluloid covered shell handle.

I used to have a cigar box full of those miniature Hammer Brand knives and others including miniatures by Imperial with solid-bolster construction. I also had an intact display card of the Hammer Brand miniatures. Too bad its hard to keep everything!!

Hi;

If you are asking about the Hammer Brands, they are long gone. The cellulid collection some of which i have posted I do have and want to sell.

I may have access to more miniatures (not mine) but it will be ahwile before that group will be for sale.

stevpfff@aol.com if you want to email me directly.

I think I've shown this knife before, but not when talking about celluloid. Just in case, I'll post the pile side. :)

James,
That is a nice 5 inch Hammer ::tu:: For some reason I have a soft spot in my heart for those old Hammers.

jonet,
I like your old Winchester. Very nice!!

Bill,
Whoa Bubba! Where did you get that Kinfolks? Those eyelash pulls are nice and the color of that celluloid is really flashy! ::drool:: The blue in there really sets it off. Do you mind if I keep a picture of it?
I think I have knife lust!

Good contribution, Justold. Imperial made many, many knives like that with advertising on them. I've seen nice collections of them put together.
I've been picking up old salesman's sample cases when I can.

Experiment with your scanner; lid up, lid down, piece of different colored paper laying over it. Some people, like BRLevine, think that is the best way to 'photograph' knives. I sold many many knives on ebay using my scanner to take the photos.

Yep, this is fun.
