Jacks or Better to Open...

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Great stuff here!

Here are three I got recently. I haven't had a Case knife for years--not since I gave a NIB red bone camp knife to a friend a long time ago. I already had my Camillus Cub Scout knife, after all! I just recently got more interested in pocket knives--always carried one, mostly my H&R Stockman or the Cammy Scout--but I've started accumulating a few more.

I really like the Case jacks. The first one I got was the 2 dot 6235 1/2 on the right--used but tight as Dick's hatband. In the pic it looks like the tip is missing--it's not, and the blade is near full.

Next I got the one dot 6235 1/2 on the left--it's new and unsharpened, unmolested in any way.

Today I just received the one dot 6231 1/2, again unsharpened and unmolested. I was sorta hoping it wouldn't be as nice as it is so deciding to carry it wouldn't be as hard a decision, but it's about mint.

You guys would know better so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think these are all Delrin. The little guys have no shield, and the big feller has no circle around around the "CASE". Probably why I didn't pay a lot for any of them.

Image

I've been carrying the used 35 1/2--it's a great little knife. It's kinda tempting to keep the two one dot knives as a new pair from the same year, but that big 31 1/2 is calling to me. I'm probably going to put it in the EDC rotation unless you fellers talk me out of it.

By the way, the springs on these knives are STOUT. Even the little guys are impressive, but like Bighead said earlier in the thread, that big jack would flat take your finger off. I thought my GEC 73 had a spring, but that 31 1/2 is a beast!

Here's my latest acquisition, a 6214 1/2 Case Tested. It's a great size for carrying, and this one is in great shape, just a little staining on the blades from mint.
