This 'coin' knife with Firth stainless blades was made by George Ibberson & Co, Sheffield in the 1930s. The registration no. dates from 1933. It has a Y-shaped spring like a lobster and the blades snap knicely. A quality piece of cutlery. s-k
I had a coin knife, once upon a time. Can't remember where it came from, or where it went, tho'. It wasn't an Ibberson, tho' - my rememberer ain't what it used to be. (Sigh)
Nice piece, Steve

Nice one Steve!
Most of the coin knives I have seen were cheap.
All of the Ibberson knives I have owned have great springs on them.
Nice to know that someone made a quality coin knife.
Thanks for your responses guys. Seems there are lots of homemade coin knives where someone has simply pinned a blade to a coin. This is a quality made round slipjoint of the lobster family. Perhaps the term coin knife was inaccurate. s-k
