pearl with small punch

Post by jonet143 »

stainless pen knife from that venerable maker j a pan. brass liners, ns pins, grooved bolsters, fancy bail, slim spear point and punch blade. nice pearl. 2 3/4" closed. what i find odd is the tiny punch blade. ladies knife? any ideas as to intended use?

Might be a Gent's knife to hang on a watch chain. Do you suppose the punch could be used to poke a hole in the end of a cigar?

I was thinking of cigar punch also, Johnnie. Or, a pipe tool ? (Smoker's pipe, not plumber's)...

hey jr, yeah could be a pipe reamer. the little punch is made just like a regular leather punch. round on back, flat on front with a flat edge ground on the bottom.

Is that mo pearl or faux pearl? Looks like some shrinkage around the bolsters when enlarged. Hard to tell though. I vote for pipe reamer. :D s-k

hey steve, i think it's faux mop after more inspection. the bolster on that side is bent inward (sat on?). when i apply pressure between the bolsters and straighten the gap disappears. i think y'all are right....pipe reamer(or leather punch for watch bands or other small straps like pygmy pony tack  )
