Ryan I haven’t seen that movie. I’ll have to look for it. I think I probably have every song Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt ever wrote. I’m also a big fan of Rodney Crowell. BTW they’re all Texans. I saw Guy Clark years ago at a small club in Dallas (Poor David’s Pub). Just him and another guitarist for several hours playing requests and conversing with the audience, just like as if it was in your living room. ::tu::

If you don’t have it try to get a copy of the CD Together at the Bluebird Cafe - Steve Earle/Townes Van Zandt/Guy Clark.

Ken—👍👍..Rodney Crowell is one of my favorites also! U can buy the dvd of “Heart Worn Highways” on eBay, but it’s expensive as it’s out of print.. it’s as lo on YouTube in 5-10 minute videos at a time like I said in my other post.. Guy, Townes and Guy’s wife Susanne were (? spelled right) best friends for years.. I’ve seen Guy give some interviews talking about all of their shenanigans over the years, good stuff!!

Speaking of their shenanigans, if you listen to nothing else from that link I posted, listen to Townes’ story about “the interfaith dental clinic”.

Ken—I’m willing to bet the other guitarist was Verlon Thompson??…Guy’s sidekick for The latter part of his career (Maybe his whole career off and on)…He’s another song writing genius and guitar virtuoso…He still does small concerts at tiny venues and does private shows by request I believe

Here’s Guy and Verlon Paying tribute to Townes..

Thanks for that link Ryan. It probably was Verlon accompanying him. Here’s another Townes Van Zandt song, one of my favorites. By someone who can sing! (Accompanied by Townes)

Songs like this make you realize why Steve Earle said Townes was a better songwriter than Bob Dylan.

Billy Joe and Eddy at their finest..https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6G9I-XYJ-QY

And here’s Eddy playing with Guy Clark in 1980–he rips up both his solo and his outro https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pGxJnB350b8

In 1980 Eddy turned 18 years old. I’m wondering how old he was in that first video, with his dad - he looks even younger than in the 1980 video. Amazing talent.

BTW that song “The Ragged Old Truck” is a true story. Billy Joe’s wife (Eddy’s mother) left him and he was thinking of killing himself. According to him he had actually put the gun to his head before changing his mind and shooting a hole in the wall instead. Billy Joe and his wife got married, divorced and re-married three times. He says it just showed how dumb she was (to marry him three times). ::facepalm::

Just copy my post and study the way I did it. Use the “YouTube” icon from the ones up above the dialog box and paste your YouTube link between the bracketed YouTube . Modify the link like you see it in my post. (For some reason when I paste the link from YouTube it puts a space at the front. You have to delete that space - took me forever to figure that out.) ::facepalm::

Here’s a Steve Earle song about a controversial topic. Don’t think it was ever on any of his albums. It’s on the soundtrack from the movie Dead Man Walking . First time I heard it I was driving in my truck - made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. ::woot::
