Ken, thanks for posting that one. ::tu::

I had the 8 track tape in the 70s....wore it out. Bought the Cassette in the 80s ....wore it out. Bought the CD in the 90s...still have it around here somewhere. I ripped the songs onto my computer, and still listen to it occasionally.

Viva Terlingua is the album I have listened to more than any other in my life - by a large margin.

I guess it's just a Texas thing. :)

One of my favorites too Unk. It's a classic album with great music on it. "Sangria Wine", "Up Against the Wall Redneck Mothers", "Desperados Waiting for a Train", "Backsliders Wine", and "Gettin By". "Gettin By" has two of my favorite song lines ever, "Gettin by on gettin by's my stock and trade.", and "Income tax is over due, and I think she is too." ::woot::

Greg, you can be my DJ any time. I discovered both Jimmie and Hank when I was a teenager and they've been favorites since then. I've probably got everything Jimmie Rodgers ever recorded, and I've been to his memorial and museum in Meridian MS. I have a CD box set that claims it includes everything Hank Williams ever recorded including old radio shows, commercials and his Luke the Drifter personna. They both have so many great songs it's impossible to pick a favorite. It's a tragedy they both died so young, with so much more they could have given us.

Ken, They were both musical genius. Imagine what we would have if not for their untimely deaths. I'm sure you've seen the movie about Hank where the record exec gave him a scenario to write a song about while he went to lunch. When the exec returned one hour later Hank had written I can't help it if I'm still in love with you. Amazing!

Greg, I think the song was "'A Mansion on the Hill" but it doesn't really matter. The point is, he was an extraordinary song writer. It's amazing that on so many of his records both the A and B sides were hits. None of the usual practice of A side is a hit and the B side was throw away song.

It's been a while since I saw that movie it may have been Mansion On A Hill. I don't think he had many throw aways. I can't think of any.

Another under appreciated artist. Who says they're not making real country artists any more?
