Re: Show off your fixed blades!B.R.K. B&T
Here is a knife i have just received, have not yet tried it out; new release from Bark River Knives: "Bird & Trout" with Elmax steel and African Blackwood handles.
I have a few BRK knives and the quality in every aspect is outstanding. Quality wise they are more of a full custom knife than a production knife. In the about 10 ? years they have been in operation they have brought out a few hundred different patterns. The thickness of blade stock is rarely less than 1/8" (0.12") and often in the 0.15" to 0.20" range.
So when i read the specs and see that this B&T knife is 0.065" at the spine it became a need, no longer just another frivolous unnecessary purchade.
I like it and have no regrets, actually i am glad i bought it. The blade is thin and just slightly flexible (not flexy like a fish knife). Edge is sharpened all the way to the very tip on one side and almost as perfect on the other; very minor. The African Blackwood is highly polished, very smooth and almost jet black; very fine wood and very nice comfortable handle.
I'll be turkey hunting in the Fall and will hopefully try out this knife.
Picture shows with a BRK "Essential" with CPM M4, 0.141" thick
and a "Classic Drop Point Hunter LG" CPM 154, 0.156" thick
You can see how relatively thin 0.065" is.
Probably you need one too. For an experienced dude, this would field dress an ungulate rather slickly i believe. I might get a chance to try this too. Bow season starts in 10 days.

Just wish I could see those other two flanking the Bark River. Sweet looking from above.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
The "Essential" is a tough 'do it all' EDC, 6 3/8" with Rc 63-64
The "Classic Drop Point Hunter" with Long Bolsters, is 8 1/2" and 0.156 thick at the spine. It is an accurate copy of the original Loveless Drop Point Hunter and same size as well. The difference is that the original had a hollow grind and this BRK has a convex grind "to a razor sharp edge". I think it is The Ultimate dedicated hunting knife, better even that the $12,500 Loveless.

Picked these up yesterday at the flea market for $1.50 each. Not sure whether they are old or new;they were wrapped in clear plastic(sealed).Guy I got them from said they came from an estate sale he attended and they were in a box with a bunch of other stuff.Think I'll make some different handles and use them for steak knives.

Nice finds knife7!
This was waiting for me when I got home yesterday, my National Knife Day pick-up from SMKW. Talk about fast shipping! This Tops Tom Brown Tracker is a HAWG at around 11 3/8" and I think it's a first generation in 1095 with linen micarta scales. Would be an excellent camp knife.

I bought my Buck 119 new, back in 1993. Never used it. It's still pristine...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Posted this over in the new finds thread but figured to throw it in here as well. Bought it for $2 because it was such an oddball.
Marked only,"Taiwan" and made probably when Taiwan was not an especially good place to make knives.Whenever the survival type knives were popular(post Rambo). This one has all the bells and whistles(well a few anyway).
Black coated saw back blade with piercing to attach to base of sheath to use as a wire cutter.Hollow handle contains a small first aid kit and fish hooks and line(to use after you stick a hook through your finger or worse).Cap contains compass that may or may not function.Sharpening stone attached to rear of sheath that has a flap to cover it when worn.Front of sheath has a removable whistle(!)to signal when you're lost in the forest.
The neatest gadget has to be the folding slingshot. The sheath is the bottom of the Y shape and the pouch helps hold the blade in place.Too bad they didn't leave room in the handle for some ammo(ball bearings)for the sling shot.Maybe I'll ditch the first aid kit and put some in. I'm a lousy fisherman anyway.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Hey guys, love them all but Scott's Case is right up my alley!
Been a while since I posted. Been busy with work/life and don't remember if I posted pics of the few I've gotten recently.
Here are two I recently acquired.
First is a gift from my son, the Marbles Woodcraft. It is smaller [the handle] than I imagined and it fits me perfectly!
I am small, 5' 3" and this is now my favorite knife for many reasons
Handle, pommel, guard are in great shape. Blade seems full but was mauled by an inexperienced owner whom I suspect was a young man.
This knife , in my opinion, was made for a young man as were some of the Buster Brown knives made by Marbles.
The other new get is a Western shark-baby shark that has taken a back seat to the Marbles.
Here are some photos of the above mentioned with a 640 A, L36, W88 or two etc.
ps, I asked my son how much he paid for the little Marbles so I could reciprocate in some way.
When he said "$27.00 including shipping" I felt real proud of him.

Lots of nice knives being shown here; I love this thread. Here is a Buck 121 in very nice stag which arrived today. I have had a thing for Bucks for a long time. Some of mine go to work, but not all of them.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Ran across this big Cat while looking for something else at a antique mall. Always was impressed with the appearance so since this one didn't hurt too much to acquire, it came home with me. I wasn't sure about the sheath but since getting home I'm sure it is original to the knife. While there I also saw a Western Bowie at $125.00. A lot of patina, there is a big dent in the wood handle and a non-original sheath. Seemed high for what it was so it stayed put. Big knife for sure though.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
I put this in the military thread because I would have appreciated having it back in the day. But it fits better here and gives me another chance to show it off. As I never tire of pointing out, those "teeth" can literally cut through steel. This is the Saber Tooth by Jefferson Spivey. I believe I have now shown this 3 times. I promise this will be the final appearance, at least for a couple of years.
