Bulldog Brand back to back Muskrat

This is surely a strange knife! I have seen this type of knife only one time before here on AAPK and it was a Fight n Rooster with single piece MOP handles and a shield. This Bulldog has patchwork style handles, no etchings on the blade and no shield but decorative filework on the blade backs. Does anyone know when it was made and how many?







It was in very good condition, I just polished the bolsters.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on rarity and when it was made. I've never seen one before

I have never seen one like it either. I would suspect it was made in Solingen, Germany at the olbertz factory using the old fight'n rooster tooling as Buster had a lot of these made back in the 80's. Most had the celebrated stamp.
When bulldog resumed using the fighting dogs stamp in 2004 they were stamped with the date so exactly when it was made is somewhat of a mystery to me. All of the pearl handled roosters of this pattern had the pearl pinned instead of glued so I would venture to say it could likely be one of a kind with the pieced and glued pearl.
The only bulldog muskrat made in the 1st generation (1978-86) were the stag handled Buckeye Specials.
It should be stamped Germany somewhere on the knife but I can't see it from the pictures.at any rate it is an unusual knife. I hope this helps a little.

Thank you for the information Tom! There is no "Made in Germany" stamp on it, only the fighting dogs with "Handmade" underneath.

I didn't think it had Germany stamped anywhere which leads me to believe it was one of a kind never intended for export.
That is really some beautful color in the pearl handles.

I think so too. Even more so it could be some kind of prototype, reject or one-of. I bought in via Ebay in Hungary.
