Dot on Eye
A question on an old yellow handled stockman. It has a small flat bottomed punched dot in the center of the shield, which is the longer and thinner shield. Is there any significance about the dot. It’s basically the same knife that Bill-in-Tx shows in his post not far below this one. Jim

I believe you are correct sir. I scraped the brass liner and I can feel a tiny protrusion inside the well. I guess the knifemaker got a little heavy handed when the shield was applied, but the average person never knows about the symbols and tang marks used. By the way I’m in the Weird place, woe is me. Hey, Jim! Since we are neighbors, we'll have to arrange to meet at the local show one of these times. Out at the Expo Center.

That would be good. Then I could ask questions in person, which I have plenty of. It’s a wonder the city allows any thing out there except rodeos, loud a$$ motorcycles and no plastic bags. Next knife question will be on a big lockblade NYK in sad shape that needs a scale.
