Bonsa Premium jacks

Post by Mason »

Shown below are a pair of 1950s three blade premium jacks from the German firm of "Bonsa".
"Bonsa" is a trade name of "Boentgen & Sabin" which existed from 1870 to 1983.
These are both well made knives with pic-bone handles and nickel silver bolsters and shields.

My impression is that Bonsa knives were well made and of excellent quality. Those two knives do nothing to dispell that image for me. Two fine looking knives. ::tu::

Very impressive. We lost Bertram's in 1980. I guess the era just couldn't support the smaller high quality German firms.

Thanks, and yes Bonsa made some good knives in their day and also many contract models for others.

Thanks, and you are right about losing many fine German firms starting in the 1960s and 1970s. It was a tough time for most American and European knife companies as well.
