Need some help with a Rooster

Any information like,stock#,number made would be great.Just got it on a trade and I'm trying to git a little info to log it in my collection.
It is a "Frank Buster,Celebrated" tang stamp.Thanks for any information.

Well, it's the obvious; Serpentine Whittler with tortoise acrylic handles. I had one just like it and wasn't too impressed with it. Brand new, right out of the plastic wrapper (didn't come in a box), it was almost as sharp as the back side of a butter knife, and didn't want to be sharpened. And it was HUGE

Well Tj you are right about it been huge,it sure is a big en and I found,like yours,it is not very sharp at all.I'm not a big fan of the handles but I do love the pattern and had no idea it was so big.So in all I am very happy with it and it looks good in with my other Roosters.
P.S.The fit and finish is very good on it.

James Farmer, who used, to and still does once-in-a-while, post here could probably tell you all that you wanted to know about the FR's. He has an AAPK store, North Forty Cutlery. IIRC his handle is jfarmer. You could probably do a search and send him a PM.

As far as I know, Fight'n Rooster never used a stock number. They didn't make very many of those whittler like yours. I can't remember now but I think they made less than 20 of them. Hope this helps.

Thank you James,it sure does.Do you have a year that these were made.I know what year they used this tang stamp, but with so few made I thought you may have a correct date.

James,I have come across a few of the knives that FR made without the bolsters and they seem to be mostly of lower quality than most of there other knives.Am I right or is this just my luck with them.

Phillip I think your whittler was released about 3 years ago which does not correspond with your tang stamp. Your knife was made with left over blades from the past. I have never really thought that the shadow (bolsterless) were of lower quality although they may seem that way because they don't have bolsters. I have some shadow bolster Roosters in my collection that are of very high quality. They are older knives though. Hope this helps.

I haven't sharpened or carried many Fight'n Roosters but I've never had any trouble getting them sharp. I have one in my pocket right now that will easily shave the hair on my arm.

I have read that very thing JF, on another forum.I read they did use some old parts to make some knives.It a very good knife,well made and finished real nice.That person also said it was the same pattern whittler as the one I have.
