I just can't help myself! I have to show this off a little. It is a leather bound tape measure made by Eye Brand's Carl Schlieper. Embossed in the leather covering is CARL SCHLIEPER - REMSCHEID - GERMANY and the Eye Logo is stamped into the brass center part along with WESTERN, GERMANY. Not too sure but that may date it to sometime after the war and before the re-unification.
I don't give too much thought to the items other than cutlery that appeared in the catalogs of Schlieper but they made a ton of tool items. They were shipped all over the planet, I guess.

Re: Eye Brand Tape Measure
That's really nice Ray!
Speaking of West Germany,
I picked up some old boxes that bulk Eyes were shipped in and noticed that they still have West Germany on them.
I know they're not old, so I guess in some cases, they're slow to adopt

Keith,
They were by nature a thrifty or even frugal group. They weren't about to discard perfectly good boxes just because of that.
Also, West Germany came about at the end of WWII, so those could be 'old' by Eye Brand standards.
