Help dateing Bulldog pen knives
I have two Bulldog pen knives I'm unable to date,
first is a Mother of pearl pen 2 1/4" closed with the Bulldog brand fighting dogs on blade
second is a wood scaled pen 2 5/8" closed with two dog heads on blade tang
Any information on dates and value would be great!

I am not such an expert on the newer knives but the double dog stamp was used in the 2001-04 knives. Some of those knives are pretty nice.

I suggest having a knife sale area and another place to show knifes.

Re: Help dateing Bulldog pen knives
Can any of you guys help me date these two knives? The First has the "Fighting Dogs" tang stamp and the second has the "Standing Dog" tang stamp. Is there any way to tell if the Fighting Dogs stamp is from the beginning or one of the later ones to maintain the trademark?

The standing dog was 1996-2000. As far as dating the fighting dogs most of the newer knives, not all, are dated on the tang. The knife in the picture is a newer knife, 2004+ if only because the blade etch was not used on the older knives. You really just have to look at a lot of knives, older and newer, to really be able to tell the difference. I hope this helps some. Be happy to answer more questions anytime.

Thanks Tom. I was wondering if the number on the tang of the secondary blade of the "fighting dogs" knife was a date. It reads 2006 and that would agree with your assessment.olderdogs1 wrote:The standing dog was 1996-2000. As far as dating the fighting dogs most of the newer knives, not all, are dated on the tang. This one was easy.....the date, 2008, is stamped on the tang.

The seller called it Arizona sunset. I'll have to dig the box out and see if it has any color indication on it.
