The real deal or not?

Post by trutemper »

Recently aquired this knife and no little to nothing about the patterns, etc of these knives other than the fact that Buster knives are supposed to be very well made and this one looks to be well done with incredible snap. Is this the real deal or not and can anyone approximate it`s age? Thanks,

Bob

Thank for the info "slim". I didnt know if maybe it was some kinda fake or not since it didnt have "Frank Buster" stamped into the blades. Nice to know its the real thing and since its darn near mint and I only paid around $15 for it, guess I didnt all right. Thanks again.

Bob, I'd say you did better than 'all-right". From what I can see in the book, they're all marked like yours "Rostfrei Solingen".Slim

Thanks for the info Slim. I actually purchased 2 of these....the other has a corkscrew , a master blade and a pen blade in the same frame. This one has what looks to be rosewood handles. I`ll try to get photos of it in the next day or so and maybe you would be so kind as to check on it for me too. Thank you.

Bob, I can't find a publishing date anywhere. The book was published by Jim Parker and distributed by Parker KCS. It mentions the 20th anniversary of Fight'n Rooster in 1995 so probably early 90's. There are two pages of "work knives". The first has 11 knives a few with clip and others with large sheepfoot and one horticulture blade all in probably rosewood. The second page has 8 knives 5 wood and three some type of celluloid. All of these knives are valued at $60.

Thanks again Slim....unfortunatley I`m having to sell some of my old knives and some newer "Roosters" as well as a J. Hickey "Ambassador" knife on Ebay to help pay for some hospital bills I incurred last fall and this spring....dang diabletes and gall bladder problems giving me fits...as well as old age...so I was kind of wondering what they were worth. do ya think starting the roosters out at around $40 for each knife is too much? Thanks again,

Bob
