Re: Charlie's passion
I wondered if even Imperial used it on some of their Cattleman patterns. Thought I had recognized it.

Re: Charlie's passion
The punch for HJ6 had to be redesigned to properly fit and operate. A bit of a painful, but successful, birth.
Great Eastern cuts them out with Computer-controlled water-jet technology! They only use it for smaller runs of parts.
Here are new blanks, one flat, and one forged over. I believe the knives will be completed by the end of March - I am excited!!
It's going to be a great one.

VINTAGE HOLLINGSWORTH KNIFE CO., EQUAL END CATTLE KNIFE (CIRCA 1916-1930)
THIS KNIFE IS IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION, (MAY HAVE BEEN CLEANED), BUT SHOWS NO REAL DEFECTS. THE BLADES AND BOLSTERS SHOW LITTLE WEAR OR SCRATCHING, AND THE BONE STAG HANDLES APPEAR TO BE CHIP AND CRACK FREE.
May have been cleaned??

Re: Charlie's passion
David, that might well be an "assembled" knife. The punch is appears to be a polished but genuine Robeson, patented by James Cooper in 1905.
The punch appears "overbladed", and the blades appear "underbladed" but the pictures are inconclusive.
That said, punches were sold back and forth between cutleries. Empire made punches for many others. I have seen this same Robeson punch in Case knives, correctly so. The time frame is also correct, so there is a possibility that the punch is correct for a Hollingsworth. But there's a lot more to be questioned about that knife, especially considering the source!

Yeah, this punch was in use for quite a while. Although the later companies had no real idea where it came from, I would wager.

Great to hear, more ways to cut myself! I currently have no less than 3 bandaids on my fingers. Will GEC be making any more for you in the near future?

Re: Charlie's passion
There will most likely be an HJ7, Perry, but I don't know when.
Maybe when I win at poker.
You've heard the one about the knife sub-contractor who won the lottery?
They asked him what he was gonna do with it.
He said; "I'll keep making knives until it's all gone!!"

Re: Charlie's passion
The Ebony knives are done!
There's a hold-up on the rest, till we sort out the Jigging, and bone color, and some other details.
