Fight'n Rooster Pearl Boot Knife

Post by olderdogs1 »

I just acquired a Pearl Fight'n Rooster boot knife. It is on the same frame as the Bulldog "Queen of Hearts" boot knife. I can't find it in any books and was wondering if James or someone had ever seen one. I will post a picture later.
Thanks, Tom

Tom I don't think I have ever seen one. I have seen some of the Bulldog boot knives that you mentioned. What is the tang stamp on the Fight'n Rooster? Please post a pic when you get a chance.

Here is a picture of the fight'n rooster knife I picked up at a knife show. This knife was with an old collection and the guy said it never had a sheath. Wish I could capture the colors in the pearl. There is no tang stamp at all, just the blade etch. I am also posting a 1st generation bulldog "QUEEN OF HEARTS" boot knife to show the similarities. Of course they were made in the same factory but the Rooster is a mystery to me as I can't find anything on it.
Any comments or ideas are welcomed.
Tom

Thats very nice Tom. I got to looking this afternoon and on page 41 in Jim Parkers Fight'n Rooster book it shows some celluloid handled ones and a bone handled one. I have never seen any of them in person. The book says those were made in 1988 and 1989. I have no idea what they would be worth. Hope this helps.

Tom these are some nice Fightn Roosters! Never seen them in person either. Gotta be pretty rare. James goes to the show every year in Sevierville and I've been a couple times and to have never even seen one has got to mean somethin's pretty scarce.

The stag knife is a bulldog, I posted it as it is on the same frame. The guy I bought The pearl rooster from had this knife with some older roosters but I am not sure of the time frame. Odd that there is no tang stamp. I like it a lot, just wish I could find out some more about it.

I do know, you check with James as well, but some Fight'n Roosters were made in another country other than Germany. I want to say Great Britain. This one may be part of that group. Wish I could help more but maybe James will be along.

Yes, the big display Fight'n Roosters were made in England and the knife that was in the knife museum set was made in Japan but Toms boot knife says Solingen Germany on the etch.

I did see that James but thought I read somewhere that even though some were marked Solingen, they were made in England. ::shrug::

I don't know Perry. Unfortunately I don't own any of the display knives but I just looked in the book and the ones made in England are marked 'Sheffield'. Since Toms boot knife is the same pattern as his Bulldog boot knife I think it was made in Solingen. Just my opinion though. I've been wrong a time or two before

Not as wrong as I have been before James,, ::dang:: I almost was gonna say earlier that some were made in Sheffield but didn't want to wrong but I was anyway. Still a mystery. I figured if anyone would know, it'd be you.
