Dale, as you may know already
the Heritage barlow is one of my favorites.
I have an '83 2661G plus an SC506 greenbone meself.

Seems like a good time to ask this question since I haven't
been able to verify it on my own.
Somewhere I read or heard the Heritage 2661G was a 1983 only issue.
Supposedly red and brown were only 1983 colors carried over for 1984.
Then as I understand it Barlow replaced for 1985-86 by the 2331 Jack.
That sound correct or are some of my wires crossed?

Speaking of barlows, here's the 2010 cCc forum knife.
Quantity 165 made.
Smooth chestnut 62009 1/2.
With a clip and a spear I figure it should have been
stamped as a 62009 3/4

Wow Wosey! That 2010 cCc Barlow is the cat's meow. That would be a good seller if they would put it in production, well I'd buy several of them anyway. It would be the cherry on the top if it was offered in CV steel too. I really like that Barlow.

Barlows with 2 large blades are hot stuff, IMO!
Ever since I saw an old sheffield one belonging to Tony Bose a couple years ago, with trapper blades in it, I've been looking for one!
I suggested it for the Bladeforums 2009 knife, and it got adopted, and is beautiful! Queen even put it in their own production. And now Case is on the bandwagon!
How did it get designed for cCc??

Upnorth, this is the fourth cCc Forum knife.
Forum members provide some input for each years pattern and handles choices, then Case evaluates what is possible and how much $. After final selection is made and prototype built, then we wait for ordering window to be announced. If minimum order requirement is met, then it's a go.
Orders open to Forum members only which is a free sign up after joining the regular cCc membership.

2006 was first year's attempt (for a 5488) which didn't meet minimum order requirement.
2007 was first successful forum knife with a red barnboard 6355wh.
2008 blue barnboard 6375
2009 white barnboard muskrat
(which completed the call for first 3 forum knives create a red white & blue set.)
2009 also offered Knife Forum display separately
2010 smooth chestnut 62009 1/2

That's about all I know about it.

Don't know how I missed this thread 'til now. Better late than never.
So it seems from Trail's picture that the barlow was originally a single blade spearpoint.
Sort of like Upnorth's full bladed Remington on page 7, I suppose.
I prefer the twin blade clip point master but my pen blade may never get used.

Do you know what makes this Barlow authentic, or is it just marketing?
Either way I don't think Mark Twain's own barlow looked any better.

That word is used a LOT in marketing. I believe Colonial made these Mark Twain barlows (could be wrong). They tend to be typical Colonial quality - not great but nice. Schrade may have even made them. The handle material looks like their Stagolon. A nice novelty.

These Mark Twain knives are made by Imperial Prov. R.I. USA made in the mid to late 70's.

I cant believe after all this time we dont have a nice "Barlow" Thread. I was inherited 3 pocket knives by my late Grandpa one of those was a "Russell Barlow". The "Barlow" knife is a Truly Historical Pattern among pocket knives & dates back to c1667, invented by Obadiah Barlow. I have long been fascinated by all the different "Variations" of the Barlow. I will start this thread off with my inherited "Russell" & the Supplee barlow mentioned in this months Knife World Magazine(jan 2012). They described the knife to be very similar to the Black & Labelle barlows, but did not show a pic of it. Thanks Mark

Hey Guys,

I wrote that article for KW. F. A. Black did make that Supplee. Supplee Biddle was a major hardware house in Phila. I own one as well. Not the prettiest knives in town, but well made.

Very interesting P.A knives, I thought the article & knives were fascinating & I really enjoyed it. That is why I went ahead and posted this supplee. I got a fabulous antique barlow coming in, that I think was another F.A Black made knife. When I get it in, I will post pics of it. Thx Mark
